Bolton Manager Dougie Freedman Showers Praise On Sanmi Odelus



Bolton manager Dougie Freedman has showered praise on Anglo - Nigerian attacker Sanmi Odelusi after he netted a brace in the Capital Cup tie against Shrewsbury (3 - 1) on Tuesday night.

20 - year - old Sanmi Odelusi, who has been at the Reebok Stadium for the past four years, was on target in the 43rd and 52nd minute of the encounter played at Greenhous Meadow.

''When we first came to the football club, Sanmi was a player that we felt had a lot more to offer.

"I've got to give full credit to Jamie Fullarton who got hold of him and he's got our development squad working really hard.

"That's what I like to do when these cup matches come along. I don't want to go and buy anyone else.

''I want to look at my development squad and pick them,'' ," Freedman was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

Apart from Bolton Wanderers, Sanmi Odelusi has also defended the colors of Queens Park Rangers and Reading.

Official : Osa Guobadia Inks One - Year Contract With Beitar Jerusalem


Israeli Premier League team Beitar Jerusalem have announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Osa Guobadia.

The 26 - year - old put pen to paper on a one - year contract after he impressed the coaching staff of Beitar Jeruslam led by Eli Cohen during trial.

'' I am very excited and pleased to join Beitar Jerusalem.

'' I make sure we have a good season together causing pleasure and pride to the club, led by owner Eli Tabib and of course our supporters,'' Guobadia told reporters.

Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo Starts Training With Gil Vicente





Gil Vicente new recruit Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo trained earlier in the week for the first time with his teammates.

Just last weekend, the 21 - year - old attacker signed a three - year contract with Gil Vicente, after snubbing overtures from Sporting Braga, Belenenses, Vitória de Guimarães, Servette and Jagiellonia Bialystok.

'' I did individual workout on Monday and only resumed training with the squad today.

Simeon Nwankwo, who joined Gil Vicente as a free agent, netted 19 goals in 68 matches for past team Portimonense SC.

Southampton Target Kennedy Igboananike Wants To Stay At AIK


Nigerian striker Kennedy Igboananike has been a great success for AIK since arriving from Djurgården IF.

Several foreign clubs are interested in the acquisition of the 24 - year - old attacker this summer including Southampton.

Panthrakikos On Brink Of Signing Suleiman Omo


According to gazzetta.gr, 27 - year - old Nigerian midfielder Suleiman Omo is on the brink of joining Greece Super League side Panthrakikos.

Suleiman Omo has been without a club since January 2013 after he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Panionios because the club owed him backlog of wages.
Panthrakikos are in the market for a player that can play both central defense and defensive midfield, and Omo is believed to be the number one target of manager Apostolos Mantzios.

With only small details remaining, Suleiman Omo will sign a contract with the Crocodiles in the coming days, if not hours.

Cologne Bid For Stefano Okaka

Matching press reports in Greece and Italy are strongly linking Nigeria youth international and Lazio starlet Sani Emmanuel with a move to Panathinaikos in the summer transfer market.

Sani Emmanuel is not a stranger to Panathinaikos as he and close pal Eddy Onazi previously trained with the Super League club in October 2010.

The product of My People FC has admitted that there has been contact between the leadership of Lazio and Panathinaikos and he is willing to play for the 20 - time champions of Greece.

'' I have been informed by the president of Lazio, Claudio Lotito that Panathinaikos are interested in me. He then asked me if I would love to play in Greece .

Moses, Nsofor desperate for a return



The build up to the August 14 Mandela Challenge prestige clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana has started to reach the real actors of the game, with Chelsea of England’s Victor Moses, declaring that he has missed his colleagues in the national team and cannot wait for the Mandale Challenge to reunite with them.

Super Eagles Scribe Dayo Enebi Achor, was quoted by Media Officer, Ben Alaiya, as saying that Moses was the first player to put a call through to the team to say he will be available for the game and will be among the first player to arrive South Africa for the game.

In consonance with renewed interest by the national team stars for the game, Obinna Nsofor, has been making desperate enquiries about his return to the national team and has also promised to be early for the game in South Africa’s warmest city of Durban.

Nurudeen Orelesi Waiting To Hear From Neftci Over Contract


Skënderbeu Korçë midfielder Nurudeen Orelesi is still hopeful the Albanian champions can qualify for the next round of Europe's elite club competition, the Champions League even after the 3 - 0 loss to Shakhter Karagandy of Kazakhstan in the first leg.

Martins Ekwueme Training With GKS Tychy



28 - year - old midfielder Martins Ekwueme on Thursday morning started training with Polish second - tier side GKS Tychy, writes fakt.pl.

Ekwueme impressed the technical bench of Orduspor this summer and was set to be offered a contract only for the Turkish club to discover that he is not a forward.

He has spent the last ten years in Poland, representing Polonia Warsaw, Wisła Kraków, Legia Warsaw, Zagłębie Lubin and Zawisza Bydgoszcz.

Official : Longinus Uwakwe Signs Contract With MKS Puszcza



Defensive midfielder Longinus Uwakwe has signed a contract with Polish basement club MKS  Puszcza, informs the official website.

The financial terms and duration of the 26 - year - old's contract were not disclosed.

Longinus Uwakwe impressed the coaching staff during training matches just before the start of the season. 

He has been registered for the league and could make his league debut on Friday against Chojniczanka Chojnice.

Since arriving Poland in the 2006-2007 season, Uwakwe has represented Stal Stalowa Wola, Widzew Lodz, Sandecja Nowy Sącz, KKS Koluszki, Kolejarz Stróże , Garbarnia Krakow and KP Piaseczno.

30 States Storm Oyo For Aalafin Oba Adeyemi Under 17 Tourney


The respected Yoruba monarch, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the  Aalafin of Oyo has confirmed 24th August for the commencement of underage competition instituted for him by Links Sports which will be played at Durbar Stadium Oyo.

The grassroot soccer tourney tagged ‘Oba Adeyemi Unity Under-17 Tournanment’ would end on by 31st with more than 30 states across the federation already signified interest to participate.

The Secretary General of the sports Olumide Olabode who disclosed this to newsmen in Ibadan said the tournament was instituted out of the first class Oba’s concern for the decline in our sports especially at the grassroots.

He added that all arrangements have been made by Links Sports to stage an itch-free and memorable maiden tourney which will subsequently be coming up annually with its hosting right rotating to cover every part of the country.

Oba Adeyemi at the trophy’s presentation event held at the palace square in Oyo charged the organizer to ensure a strict compliance to the stipulated age for the tourney to correct the ills that always surround under aged sports competition.

While the sports loving traditional ruler also called on Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to monitor the tournament for talents in order to strengthen our national Under-17 team ahead of thier subsequent engagements.

Aalafin said all the stakeholders in our sport shared in the blame concerning the decline noticed in our sports.

'' We are not always sincere in implementing our grassroots sports developmental programmes, and that was why we are not getting the desired results,'' Aalafin noted.

Meanwhile, the sports body through their states’ chapters has also lined-up much other soccer competitions for the development of the game across the nation which include Dr, Agabi soccer championship Keffi zone, slated for 23rd to 17th August, National U-13 Girls Unity Cup scheduled for Oyo State between 11th to 18th August.

Through a note on its official website, Greece Super League outfit Aris Thessaloniki has announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder John Ibeh. 

The 27 - year - old, who spent the last six years in Romania, has penned a two - year contract with Aris.

Speaking after his unveiling, John Ibeh told the official website, arisfc.gr : '' My transfer to Aris is a new step and a challenge in my career. Chigozie Udoji spoke so well about Aris and told me generally about Greek football.

Vålerenga midfielder Fegor Ogude has emerged as a contender to fill the defensive midfield role at Real Betis, according to the electronic edition of sports daily Estadiodeportivo.

Manager Pepe Mel's preferred candidate is VfB Stuttgart midfielder William Kvist but should he fail to land the Denmark international, the alternative plan is to sign Fegor Ogude, whose contract with Vålerenga expires in December 2014.

Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo was granted a work permit by the British Home Office. 

The 19 - year - old will depart Abuja to start training with Chelsea.

'' He had been waiting to get the green-light from the British embassy before leaving to start training with Chelsea.
