A total of 28 Nigerian referees have received badges of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to operate as FIFA referees and assistant referees this year.
At an impressive ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday, six men were listed as FIFA referees, seven as assistant referees, three as Women referees, four as Women assistant referees, four as Futsal referees and four as Beach Soccer referees.
NFF President Aminu Maigari, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Barrister Chris Green, pledged that the Federation will continue to support the development and aspirations of Nigerian referees, while urging them to be steadfast and firm and also engage in self –development and self-application to their different tasks.
Chairman of the NFF Referees Committee, Alhaji Muazu Suleyman challenged the referees to always aim for excellence in their performance, while realizing that they do not represent themselves but the Nigerian nation.
