Organizers of the first –ever workshop for FIFA/NFF Licensed Players’ Agents say they want to make the event a showpiece and once-in-lifetime experience for the agents.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, Mr. Shina Phillips, who is the spokesman for Matchmakers Consult International Ltd that has been handed the right to organize the event by the Nigeria Football Federation, said the two-day event will take place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, 15-16 March, 2011.
“We recognize that the job of a players’ agent is beyond the domestic market in Nigeria and that in going about his job, he/she will most likely need to interact with the various football Federations, clubs and other agents in Europe, Asia, the Americas and even within the African continent.
“As a result, we are bringing in resource persons from all over the globe, tested men who have things to say and knowledge to impart. Among those we are concluding arrangements with are the reverred Mr. Pini Zahavi and Mr. Mike Emenalo.
“You know, Mr. Zahavi is arguably one of the most successful Players’ Agents in the world. He has plenty to offer. And of course, our own Michael Emenalo, the Assistant Coach of English Premiership club, Chelsea is no stranger. He was Chelsea’s chief scout before he became the Assistant Coach recently.
“We are also talking to Mr. Rob Jansen, President of the European Football Agents Association, while we expect a representative of FIFA at the event”, said Shina Phillips.
Matchmakers Consult have also lined up the Acting General Secretary of the NFF, Barrister Musa Amadu and the NFF’s Principal Legal Officer, Barrister Okey Obi among those to deliver thought-provoking and educative papers at the workshop.
